The enormous yacht of Saddam Hussein, Basrah Breeze, was unsuccessfully attempted to be sold for several years. Then, it was decided to turn it into a hotel.

To protect the Basrah Breeze from damage during the war, the Iraqi government moved the yacht to the shores of Saudi Arabia in 2003. In 2010, the vessel returned home and was immediately put up for sale for 30 million dollars. However, the Basrah Breeze did not find a buyer in eight years, so local authorities decided to convert the fully equipped boat into a hotel.

The 82-meter yacht was launched in 1981, featuring 17 small cabins and 18 crew cabins. There are also dining rooms, bedrooms, and other areas that were once created for Saddam Hussein. Much has been preserved on the boat: the dictator's king-size bed is adorned with a silk canopy, and one of the bathrooms contains a barber's chair. The former head of Iraq himself never visited the yacht, but it was decided to preserve it for future generations so that people could see how the dictator lived.

However, the yacht is not aimed at tourists: the Iraqi government wants to turn it into a hotel for sailors. Many of the crew members live far from Basra, so in the hotel they will be able to rest between voyages without wasting time traveling home.
