I have a tradition: to give myself a gift on my birthday. These can be completely different gifts from things to experiences. This time I decided to treat myself to a trip to Spain and chose the city of Valencia. It is known for its warm climate and picturesque nature with beautiful beaches. In a new place, I love to explore the surroundings, so all I need is breakfast at the hotel. I wanted to stay in a five-star hotel so I would have all the comforts. I made a list of three options that I liked the most, and I will choose from them. First of all, I looked at the hotel's features and location, breakfast, rooms, and guest reviews. And if you are also going to Valencia, I hope this selection will be useful to you.  The image galleries and prices get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on January 24, 2025.

Hotel features

The hotel left a strong impression on me. The five-star Caro Hotel is located in the historic center of Valencia and is built in the old palace of the Marquis of Caro, which is listed as a valuable cultural asset. I found it interesting to stay in such a building with a rich history. The renovation required organizing excavations that lasted more than three years. As a result, the exact age of the building was established, and its historical value was proven. About 2,000 years ago, an Arab fortress and part of the defensive wall were located on this site. Elements of ancient constructions have miraculously survived for thousands of years. If you stay here, you will have a unique opportunity to admire Roman mosaics, stroll through the oldest part of the building, and swim in the outdoor pool with mesmerizing turquoise water.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the Alma del Temple restaurant daily from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM in a buffet style. When booking, please indicate that you want a room with breakfast included. According to guests, each morning a diverse selection of dishes is offered: fruits, yogurts, cereals, pastries, cheese, and cold cuts, as well as freshly prepared hot dishes. Most guests really enjoyed the dining in this place.

Hotel Rooms

I think that the Marquis Caro himself would be glad to stay in the rooms of this hotel and would not be disappointed to see the new design of his castle. Ceilings adorned with beautiful stucco and paintings, rooms furnished with antique furniture, minimalist and strict luxurious design of the rooms – such an environment will charm not only marquises. But keep in mind, the richer the interior, the higher its cost. The rooms, in addition to a comfortable bed, are equipped with air conditioning to maintain the ideal temperature year-round, a television with cable and satellite channels, a mini-bar with a variety of drinks and complimentary bottled water, Bvlgari toiletries with a bathrobe and slippers, a down comforter, and high-quality bedding. Some rooms also have balconies or terraces where you can enjoy fresh air and surrounding views. I especially liked the loft under the roof, where there is a bathtub in the room. All that’s left is to take along a cozy novel by Rosamunde Pilcher, and my perfect birthday evening is ready to be realized.

Hotel Location

The hotel is located in the center of Valencia, just 200 meters from the cathedral. Plaza de la Virgen and the Basilica of Valencia are within a 5-minute walk. La Lonja de la Seda, a UNESCO-listed medieval market, is a 10-minute walk away.

Hotel impressions

Guests note the warm and attentive attitude of the staff, who are concerned about the comfort of the guests. The employees helped with restaurant recommendations and transportation bookings. Although the building is historic, it is very modern, with spacious and clean rooms and a convenient courtyard with a pool and relaxation area. I read a review where a guest celebrated their birthday during their stay, and they were left a card, dessert, and a small bottle of champagne. I think I should also mention my birthday date at check-in. Among the disadvantages mentioned in the reviews are a slightly dirty pool and lack of light in the shower.

Hotel features

Of course, I began to study the history and features of the next hotel again, and I found an interesting fact. Las Arenas Balneario was built on the site of a traditional 19th-century spa resort and became the first grand hotel in the Valencia region. It is a wellness center where treatments are conducted using healing water from local springs, as well as other bodies of water. I would like to stay here and visit the spa center to undergo individual wellness treatments. I would try chromotherapy in the stainless steel pool and other relaxing services.

Breakfast

The Sorolla restaurant serves dishes of modern Valencian cuisine, and breakfast will also be held there. It is served daily from 07:00 to 11:00 AM in a buffet format. Additionally, a special dietary menu can be ordered upon prior request. When booking, you will need to reserve a room with breakfast included. According to reviews, the dining in this hotel exceeds guest expectations. It is noted that there is a wide variety of delicious fruits, champagne, cakes, and pastries, Mediterranean dishes - in general, a great variety of products to suit every taste. Guests also mention the friendly and thoughtful approach of the staff in organizing full meals for families with children. The hotel has rooms where breakfast is not included for free, and guests say that it is quite expensive.

Hotel Rooms

Among the rooms, I really liked the exclusive Malvarrosa suite with a living room, dining area, double bed, and dressing room, as well as a bathroom with a private terrace, jacuzzi, bathtub, and separate shower. Plus luxurious Hermes toiletries. It has a spacious terrace with stunning sea views. Also, a free minibar and Nespresso coffee machine. And what is very pleasing is the daily access to the thermal circuit of the spa center.

Hotel Location

The hotel is located on the shore of the picturesque Arenas beach, offering a pristine view of the ocean, and is situated not far from the historic center of Valencia, a famous city of arts and sciences. The Queen Sofía Palace of Arts is also nearby, just 2.8 km away, the Monforte Gardens are 3.7 km away, the Royal Gardens are 4 km away, and the National Museum of Ceramics is located 4.3 km away.

Hotel impressions

Guests note the convenient location near the sea, clean premises, delicious breakfasts, and good infrastructure. Also, most appreciated that order is maintained in the rooms. Among the downsides: it can be noisy at night due to nearby restaurants, and the hotel could benefit from a fresh renovation. However, from the photos, I noticed that both the plumbing and the beds, as well as other equipment, look new.

Hotel Features

This hotel attracted me with its concept that it is not so much about traveling, but about discovering new experiences. This is exactly why I go to different places. There are many additional services available, such as massage, a gym, and room service. I even found an interesting offer to purchase certain decor and furnishings from the rooms and the hotel. You can find the list and prices of items on-site. Pets are also allowed. For an additional fee, special services will be offered for guests with dogs.

Breakfast

Start your day with a burst of energy and enjoy the best views of Valencia, as breakfast is served on the 9th floor of the hotel, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city. You can visit the restaurant from Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 11:00 AM, and on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from 07:30 to 11:30. I looked at the photos and saw a breakfast that you won't be able to resist. It is served in a buffet format with a wide selection of typical Valencian products, special cheeses, as well as gluten-free and vegan dishes. The restaurant features a demonstration kitchen area where chefs will prepare a hot dish of your choice. Coffee lovers will be delighted by the bar, where you can learn about the Japanese art of coffee preparation. If you prefer something more traditional, the barista will recommend one of the varieties: mild, strong, aromatic from the coffee bar's selection. I read the reviews and found unanimous agreement that hearty breakfasts are served here, and there is a wide variety of coffee available.

Hotel rooms

I studied the hotel’s website and found information that the room design was developed by the interior design team Lázaro Rosa-Violán and is inspired by the local style of Valencia. The rooms seemed to me very stylish, while also cozy, resembling a home environment. I am drawn to the decision to furnish the windowsills with cushions, making it comfortable to settle there with a book and look out at the calming city. The rooms are equipped with double beds, some will have a balcony, their own living room with a TV and a desk. What pleased me is the soundproof walls, allowing for enjoyment of peace and quiet.

Hotel Location

The YOU Valencia Hotel is located in the heart of the city, just 100 meters from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It is also 500 meters from two main historical attractions of the city: the Valencia Cathedral and La Lonja de la Seda. If you love shopping and keep up with the latest fashion trends, be sure to visit Poet Querol Street. Next to the hotel awaits a whole world of shops and boutiques with the most exclusive national and international brands. Also, don't forget to visit the Central Market and Plaza Redonda to see life as it is.

Hotel impressions

Many say that this hotel is the best in Valencia, with a great location just five minutes from Plaza Mayor, guests find it convenient to reach the Atocha and Chamartin train stations, as well as the metro. The staff is attentive and the rooms are comfortable. Among the downsides, some guests note that in the absence of sunlight, the water in the pool is cold, and the quality of toilet paper is low.

Travel-expert

While I am contemplating which option to choose. I liked the first and third ones the most. In the first, you will find yourself in a once ancient castle, and in the last, you will breathe in the spirit of Valencia. But if I listen to myself, I am currently more attracted to the tranquility, reliability, and a certain intimacy that emanates from Caro Hotel, than the urban style of Only You Hotel Valencia. Therefore, I will most likely settle on the first hotel. Apparently, I have aristocratic roots!
