We were there for the first time in 2006, and this vacation is in 2022. I can't say that by choosing a villa, you are tied to one place. The beach from Azian walk towards the water villas, in my opinion, is the most successful. In 2006, the spa reception was completely above the water. And the villas to the right of the spa had immediate access to the water in 2006. And now, I guess it's about 20 meters to the water.

avatar

Yes, I was there for the first time in 2011. There was more water then, and the renovations were more recent 😂 Asia now looks completely different from the side, with those flowers in the windows. And the waterfront villas have been moved further away from the shore.

avatar

In beach villas, it was cool at 22. In 2006, they were old. The water has receded significantly.

avatar

Aha, I've been there a few times too, my last visit was on December 23rd, so you can say we've seen all the renovations happening 😅

Moved into room 504, great room, nice entrance to the water. Yesterday, the water was up to my neck before reaching the seaweed, today during low tide it was up to my waist. In the morning, there were even seaweeds above the water, but now they are back underwater. The room has a coffee machine, local coffee capsules cost 3 dollars, I forgot to bring my own. And the food is just delightful. Everything is delicious! Everyone will find something for themselves.

avatar

Hello. Can you tell me which coffee machine is there?

Such a regular one, with these capsules

We rested here. It's nice here, we liked it.

Good day! We are here now with children aged 6-8. Room 406, Beach Villa, opposite the sandy beach with small pieces of coral, problematic without flip-flops. In general, throughout the entire hotel area, there are no Beach Villas (where families with children are accommodated) with ideal sand like flour. It is available near the overwater villas, but families with children are not placed there. Regarding food, there is gluten-free bread, lactose/egg-free desserts, spicier options separately, and food for everyone else. There are fruits, but no papaya, there are melons/watermelons, occasionally mangoes, and other unknown fruits, fresh juices in the morning (mixed fruit and watermelon). Specifically for children's food, like baby food, I have not seen. There are just side dishes like broccoli puree, carrots, many vegetarian dishes. But there are issues with fish, there is no good quality fish. There is enough meat and chicken. If you have questions, feel free to ask. 👌 The hotel is rated 4 stars. It resembles Bandos (a large island with wide pathways), there is not much for children, to be honest. The playground is so-so. I have been to a 5-star resort where there is more variety and it is more luxurious, but it was important to me to reach without a seaplane, without long waits after the already long flight to Male. It takes an hour by boat. It's better to swim here wearing flip-flops. There is no perfect sand and seawater without algae. Overall, I like everything compared to the prices at 5-star hotels. A large island, wide beaches, lots of greenery, lots of wildlife, delicious food, ice cream, and cotton candy every day (for children). You can walk a lot, the island is big and beautiful. At Miru - everything is great with food, and there are fruits, but they give them out depending on the day, today mangoes, tomorrow watermelons and melons, i.e., it's not all available at once. Maybe because it's a 4-star, after all. And there is almost no variety for children. In Kurumba, there was a separate children's table with kids' burgers, nuggets, desserts, and side dishes.

Have a great rest, everyone! We are resting here) A turtle was spotted at the end of Waterwill 300X.

avatar

Suddenly someone may find it helpful: my husband and I were together, and initially the tour agent was requesting 200 villas for us. However, the hotel placed us in room 409 because they thought that since we were without children, we would be better off in the adult-only zone. Therefore, write directly to the hotel that the presence of children does not bother you, if you do not want to end up in the 400s. Meeru was our second hotel. I fell in love with it and would go back 100 more times, while my husband could barely wait for the vacation to end 😆🤦🏻‍♀️ he absolutely disliked everything about it.

avatar

The 400s are not the adult zone! We initially lived in 410 with a 9-year-old child.

avatar

Yes? And when we asked what was going on, they told us in the hotel: there are no children here, we decided it would be better for you 😁 We also moved to this beach villa with a pool and got such a contrast.

avatar

No, no, they settle there with children! You have been misled!

avatar

There you are with children, but if you are there without children, you may be assigned to the adult dining room, hence the talk about the adult zone.

avatar

No one is assigned to a specific restaurant here. Simply those without children can go to adult-only restaurants. There are restaurants only for adults, as well as restaurants for everyone. In general, at the restaurant near the reception, couples without children also dine.

avatar

Restaurant 18+ includes villa numbers 700, 500, and some of the 600s.

avatar

Correct, because 100 and 300 (although formally 18+ villas) are assigned to the children's dining area, so you have to go to the kids' section. The reason for this is that they need to evenly split the guests roughly equally between both dining areas. If all adults on the island head to the northern dining area, there simply won't be enough tables there.

avatar

Hello! There are no room assignments to restaurants in Meeru, there are places (restaurants, pool, bar) only for adults, as well as places where lunch is 18+ and dinner is for everyone. Detailed information about the working schedule, age restrictions, dress code is available on the hotel's website.

avatar

Well, try going to a different canteen ))

avatar

When we moved to the beach villa, we went to the nearest restaurant where families with children usually go. We were overwhelmed by the number of people, so we asked at the reception and were told that adults can also dine at the restaurant near the water villas, where we originally intended to go. So, there are no restrictions. Well, at least for adults.

avatar

Yes, without children you can go to an adult restaurant, if you request, you can be seated there.

Show all replies in a thread (1)
avatar

True, the children are only at Farivalhu. And in the pool by Dhoni.

avatar

Are the tables assigned to specific families or can we sit wherever we want?

avatar

You can sit wherever you want.

I think they meant the proximity to the 18+ zones (bar and villas 500 and 300) plus the noise from the bar, so they try to only accommodate guests without children in the 400s for convenience. But the 400s are beach villas where staying with children is possible, just like in the 200s.

We are here now. We moved from 410, there is seaweed all around there. The view from the beach is dark because of them. Once again, I am convinced that Meeru is a special place in the Maldives. Over 20 years, of course, a lot has changed, they have built more bungalows, seaweeds and corals have appeared on the shore. But the atmosphere remains the same. We were in a 5-star resort last year, twice as expensive, and it was not the same at all. I am ready to overlook the corals on the shore, the tired repairs, and the furniture. There is something inexplicable here. On Meeru, I enjoy and relax. My husband and I were on Meeru 20 years ago, we returned the year before last, and came again now. Personally, I want to keep coming back here.

We stayed here. Only positive impressions remained. The photo shows the 300th villas. Beautiful views. They made a nice birthday present.

avatar

We lived in villa 417, it was so quiet that I even spoke in a whisper at first. The beach was nice, but a bit shallow, and there were low tides. There were no currents at all, so we swam in the water villas where it was deep and there were rays, squid, and lots of fish.

avatar

The beach villas with a jacuzzi amazed me... No, I have no complaints about the villas themselves, everything is great! I have some concerns about the location though, why is the beach villa situated in the forest where you can't even see the sea)), I complained at the reception and they wanted to move us to villa 661, where yes, the beach is right there, but! It's a thoroughfare, next to the restaurant, with a pathway right next to it and everyone walks by and peeks right into your space. We refused and stayed where they initially placed us.

avatar

And where did they settle?

avatar

627. In the middle.

avatar

Is it far from the ocean?

avatar

Everything here is close to the ocean, I just pictured the beach villa to be right on the beach, like in other hotels, but here you need to walk through a sort of palm strip, about 70 meters, and you can't see the sea from the villa.

avatar
photo

The view from the villa.

avatar

It's a pity that we can't see the ocean, we have also booked such a villa.

avatar

You can ask for a Jacuzzi beach villa among the 100s, they are located closer to the ocean and have a beautiful view. However, there are differences between the villas themselves.

I live in the 200s villas. Everything is fine there. The sea is more beautiful on the other side. Somewhere around the 230s villas, there is a pipe sticking out of the sea, from which sand is poured. It's scary there. There are fish and there is depth. The sea is clean, but you need flip-flops.

avatar

Hello, could someone please show me how deep the tide is? I am tall and would like to swim instead of standing in waist-deep water.

avatar

From the beach villas, past the coral garden towards the sand pumping platform and further deep into the ocean. But there is a slight current. These are the 200th villas.

It was the end of November - beginning of December. There were no minuses. We stayed first in the front villa, then in the Jacuzzi beach. We liked the first option better - the solitude, the water entrance, the underwater world. This coast is quieter. Where the Jacuzzi is, the water is a bit rougher, let's say. Wi-Fi works without any problems everywhere. The Russian-speaking guide is almost always there. One day it rained - and we swam in it... and walked barefoot on the paths and in the sand... we only noticed the magical sunset, the super friendly staff. Illumination is not really needed after 7 PM)) all paths are lit, restaurants and cafes are well lit, and you can listen to the waves and catch a glimpse of fish in the water near the water villas or crabs on the beach under the starry sky. Food... the cuisine is a 10 out of 10. Italian day, Mexican day, Indian day, etc., I don't remember, but there's something for every taste. On my birthday, there was a little cake, champagne, and fruits in the room. Cleaning twice a day, sometimes we declined it. In short, it was a magical romantic week, thank you Meeru!

avatar

The food here is certainly amazing, unbeatable, and people come here for that. However, everything else... I believe it is necessary to mention. Wi-Fi: works on 15% of the hotel's territory, mostly near the rooms, beach, reception, and restaurant. There is no traditional lighting on the hotel premises. Considering that dinner starts at 7:00 pm (over an hour after sunset), even getting to the restaurant is a problem. No one speaks Russian at the hotel: having been to the reception four times at different times, we never encountered the "three staff members" that were often mentioned at the hotel. On the beach, sharp coral fragments are found everywhere when entering the sea. There is not a single spot with clean sand. It's either rocks or dead corals. You are afraid to swim to avoid getting scratched. Since the hotel's beach area is huge, not all of it is cleaned. Speaking of cleaning, it's worth mentioning that during the rain (which has been abnormal this year), no one even attempted to drain the water from the main paths. There were huge puddles, and it was impossible to pass without getting wet. The combination of water and sand made it quite slippery. I can only note that umbrellas were provided, which was very helpful. There are not enough signs at the hotel, and sometimes you walk and doubt whether you are going in the right direction. It is not always possible to navigate based on the map provided. The sea: we were lucky with the location of our villa by the sea, it was the very first one (503): the water was "neck-deep". However, just slightly to the left, along the entire beach line, you can go in the water without touching seaweed and pebbles, only "belly-deep". In our specific situation, when booking through Booking.com, we chose breakfast-lunch-dinner (full board), but upon arrival, we ordered three glasses of soda at the restaurant during breakfast. We were asked to pay $24 for that upon check-out. We had to pay. It seemed like our mistake, but of course, no one informed us about the charge. The waiter brought it with a smile on his face (by the way, it's nice that they remember the importance of smiling), but they had their own oversight: on the night before check-in, we called to inquire about early check-in and late check-out. Early check-in was indeed arranged (but we were given the keys at 13:58), however, later that day, we called again and said that we would return on our own transfer, they told us we had to leave the island at 1:00 pm, vacating the room by 12:00. I couldn't even imagine such disrespect towards guests. When I went to the reception, I asked if, since we have a 1:1 ratio of mistakes, they would please remove the bill. However, the supervisor insisted that we had to pay. And to think of how we had to change our plans and incur losses due to changing the return transfer from evening to the next day - that's a whole different story...

Good evening everyone, we returned from Meeru this week. It was our last location out of 24 days, planned it to celebrate my birthday here. Upon our arrival, the bed in the room was decorated with flowers, and there was cold champagne and a fruit basket waiting for us on the table. The dinner table was set with a small basket of flowers and they brought a cake. The room type was a villa with a jacuzzi, located on the sunset beach. Guests staying in rooms of this category have access to a separate restaurant called 18+ Malaan, the food there is excellent. There is a wide selection of fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, cheeses, and desserts. And most importantly, everything tastes delicious. There were also themed dinners, we attended Turkish, Maldivian, and Mexican nights. The resort grounds are large, very green, and we didn't notice any mosquitoes. They have a "barefoot concept". I liked the beach more on the sunset side, there was no wind at all. You can also download a convenient MeeruMaldives application, where you can find all the information about resort activities, their costs, expenses, and if you have any questions, there is a chat where you can write and get a quick response. Cleaning and towel changes in the room were done twice a day, and the water was constantly replenished. I would advise girls to bring their own hair and body products, as I didn't particularly like the quality of the hotel ones. The staff is responsive and friendly. There are also entertainment options, but mostly in a soft format. Live music, yoga, there was even a beach disco. There were no bed bugs noticed. I am very satisfied with my stay at this resort, I didn't find any drawbacks for myself. I would definitely come back here.

Last summer I stayed at Meeru after some great experiences with 5-star hotels. It was a very impressive hotel, both in terms of its beauty and delicious offerings. The value for money was exceptional in every aspect.

avatar

This is our first time, so it's important for us not to sail too far on a speedboat from Male, that's the criterion, and a beautiful view too. Would you recommend this hotel?

avatar

In terms of distance, Bandos is closer, then Miiru, and then Sammer. In terms of the picture, it is Miiru.

If the budget allows, then definitely Meeru. It has everything you need. However, the island is big. There is no reef, although there are plenty of fish, we didn't even go on a snorkeling trip. But for the first time, Bandos will be great. It's closer and has a reef👍

We visited Vilamendu in Miru. Here is a review for comparison. Vilamendu is constructed from leftover construction materials from Miru, and they are very similar. In Miru, there is no snorkeling and there are few fish (you can only find them near the waterfalls and the pier), but the beaches are great. Not all of them anymore, but still better than Vilamendu, which has beaches that are twice as small. However, in Vilamendu, there is snorkeling and plenty of fish. In terms of bars, mini-bars, and dining facilities, they are absolutely identical. They are part of the same network and have the same price range.

avatar

Hello! Just to clarify, are you saying that there is no beach in Mera where an adult can enter and the depth is comfortable for swimming?

avatar

It's not quite clear what it means "went into the water and started swimming"? I'm not a good swimmer, but I managed to float from all sides 😅

avatar

My mom and I are good swimmers, so we love to swim a lot and for a long time. That's why we want a proper depth so that we don't scrape against the bottom.

avatar

There were about 300 villas on both sides of the water, and every morning the swimmer would breaststroke swim right by the water when diving.

avatar

Thank you so much! We would like to request a room next to the water villas.

Excuse me, what does "детская столовка" mean? So if we are with a child, we definitely go there? And what does it entail? Could you please provide more details?

avatar

There are two restaurants, one for guests with children and on the other side, where guests with children relax. The other one is only for adults aged 18 and above. Not everyone wants to relax when there are children nearby, so this information may be useful to someone.

You, yes, get in, and children pour out noise, chaos, and running (as luck would have it, but probably), and the northern dining room - silence and peace.

avatar

It's sad, we have a teenage child, he will probably be shocked.

If he finds a suitable company, maybe he will be fine.

300 water villas are part of a common dining area (not 18+). There were no issues with noisy children. The space is spacious and there are places on the veranda with a view of 🌊 (for smokers, half of the tables are located there).

Oh, experienced ones, could you please tell us about the sockets? Do we need adapters and how many sockets are there in the room?

avatar

In the 500s, there is a mix of electrical outlets, but since I always use a universal adapter with USB, I don't remember which ones are which. However, the convenient socket above the table is British.

I'm only staying in beach villas 😅 I didn't need adapters, there is one socket for each bedside table, and one socket on the table where the kettle is.

Can you please tell me, are the prices for drinks and food expensive in the bar? Does anyone happen to have a photo of the menu?

The watermelon on the left is watermelon pizza 😂, don't fall for it, AI doesn't care, but it's frustrating for $7, you probably won't want to snack at an adult pool, they feed you to death at the canteen, but when it comes to drinks... it has become expensive.

Do you keep a record of all receipts by number?

Yes, the hotel also has its own application, download it, and after check-in, log in there, it will be convenient to track all the receipts.

Can you please tell me if the minibar is included in the all-inclusive package or if it is paid?

avatar

As of September 2023, there is no free plan available, and there are no plans to offer subsidized options. It seems that they were planning to change the AI plan from the new year, but it is unlikely to happen. The plan has been changed, but there are no changes to the mini-bar. Information is available on their website at meeru.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Meeru-AllInclusivePackage-2024.pdf. Now you can have business lunches every day instead of every 5 days as it was before, but considering the 1.5 times increase in AI, it's not much of an improvement.

Good day/evening, dear travelers! My 16-year-old granddaughter and I are planning to relax on an island. However, as I understand it, most of the villas and bars on the island are for individuals aged 18 and above. Can you tell me if we will be able to visit the adult pool together? Also, what can you say about staying in a "beach villa" or a "garden room"? What are the pros and cons? Or should we consider choosing a different resort? Thank you 🙏🏻

avatar

The pool and bars de facto can be accessed without fences, checkpoints, wristbands, and passport checks for 18+, moreover, I assume that the granddaughter looking 18 will not be able to purchase alcohol. "Garden" means if you want to save money, the building is inside the island, with shared walls with neighbors who may be noisy, etc. A beach villa is okay, with its own part of the beach and separate villa. If you want to request a closer location to the water for another resort, you should ask for the 400th or 200th room numbers. If you want a water villa, it will be definitely in another resort, not here. Siyam World can be considered, it is more expensive, but it has a personal water slide and they seem to allow check-in at 16. If you choose a beach villa, the difference between classmates (Villa Park/Nautica, Kuredu, Olhuveli) is not significantly big, and the segregation for 18+ may be stricter (Kuredu - wristbands and seems like Olhuveli is also stricter).

avatar

Are we still considering Villa Park? What do you say? Should we consider Meeru or Villa Park? Thank you 🙏🏻

avatar

For me personally, Villa Park is not appealing because it is tiled inside, but for someone else, this could be a plus.

avatar

Good afternoon! What do you mean by "lined with tiles inside"?

The photo shows both the room numbers and the pathways (walking barefoot is not so comfortable). In the rooms of Meeru, there is both wood and laminate flooring (except in wet areas), while the pathways are natural.

This is my story, a journey with my 16-year-old daughter. With children, only garden rooms or beach villas. There are two pools, and let me tell you that the children's pool is much better, more beautiful, and newer than the 18+ pool. We didn't even go to the 18+ pool bar, but we were served at the second 18+ bar, Uthuru, without any problems.

We were in August 2023. Good rooms with numbers 620 to 650. Rooms 601-619 are near the restaurant, standard villas, and rentals. Rooms 650-661 are too close to the pathway next to the cottages and everyone can see inside. We do not recommend the ones on the edges. We stayed in Villa 647 (in the photo). We didn't encounter any rats throughout the 10 days.

avatar

Is it safe and suitable for children to stay near the "children's" beach? 😨 Families with children do not stay in other villas. 😕

We need to ask for the 400th or those closest to the 300th watermen.

Meeru was simply super in July 🔥🔥🔥

avatar

Hello everyone! I liked the hotel, the food was mind-blowing! Seriously, I have probably never eaten such delicious and diverse food before, even though I am a big fan of restaurants. We had All inclusive, and honestly, I realized that I couldn't eat and drink as much as was included. We stayed in a water front villa, and I really enjoyed it - it was clean and not crowded, just what I needed. I didn't really like the other part of the island, but that's probably because I don't like children and it was difficult for me to ignore that. As for the internet, the Wi-Fi coverage is not available everywhere, but it was enough for me in the rooms and all public areas (reception and restaurants). There is Russian-speaking staff here!!!

They indeed arranged early check-in (but gave us the keys at 1:58 PM), however, on the same day, they called and said that since we would return on our own transfer, we had to leave the island at 1:00 PM, vacating the room by 12:00. I couldn't even imagine such disrespect towards guests. When I went to the reception, I asked if we could cancel the charge since we had a 1:1 error ratio, but the supervisor insisted that we had to pay. And then there is a separate story about how we had to change our plans and incur losses due to changing the return transfer from the evening to the day.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2023. I want to share my review. Important note about dining and behavior! Drones are prohibited - you will receive aggression from neighbors (especially repeat offenders) and a warning call from reception. There is an 18+ zone (north, the segregated north island is 18+, the south is common) - you can walk with children, swim (there is practically a lake near the 500s), you cannot have picnics and camps opposite the 500 Water Front - you will receive aggression from their inhabitants and a warning call from reception. Food from the cafeteria cannot be brought to the room, AI bar service is partial (marked with * in the menu) and does not apply to room service or bottled alcohol. Large pizzas, mineral water, etc. Cocktails from the bars can be brought to the room, but you need to understand that the island is large and you can't run from the bar to the villa (unless it's right nearby), so AI is still necessary. With AI, every five full nights comes with a visit to a restaurant, it's better to choose Asian Wok, but you have to understand that it's not a full dinner from the menu, it's more like a business lunch (dine around), it needs to be booked at least a day in advance. It is reasonable when it comes to alcohol selection. They don't have any cheap alcohol like Old Monk from neighboring India, which is great, but they also don't have champagne from the 1997 harvest (it's not the right crowd). Martinis are martinis, not "martUinis" like they have in Turkey, and the overall selection is reasonable, there are no high-end brands and cheap alcohol. As for cocktails, they're okay if you don't experiment on your own. I couldn't handle the Side Car from the menu (lemon juice without sugar) 😂. The wine is just average. They pour either Jim Beam or Scottish Pipe on AI. I was on the All-Inclusive plan, I don't know if the prices are the same for Full Board or not: Jim Beam is $95 for 1L, Jack Daniels is $180 for 1L. Prices for other spirits by the bottle can also be found at the bar. The staff at the children's pool Dhoni in the blue area is excellent and shows and explains everything, while in the northern Uthuru they were not very helpful. These are the prices... If in 2019 the cocktails were 10*60=600 rubles (like here in restaurants), now they are already 15*100=1500 rubles. In principle, AI solved this problem, but it has also been fixed now. AI is now approximately $150 per day for two people (through a tour operator), but for the next season starting from December 2023, AI will already be approximately $250 per day (which is not okay at all). Generally speaking, Meeru's bar prices have gone somewhere wrong.

A short review of Meeru Island Resort. We stayed in August 2023. It was our first trip to the Maldives. Everything was clear and understandable at Male airport: we were greeted, taken to the jetty with boats, loaded, and taken to the hotel. The journey from the airport to the island took 45 minutes by boat. Guests are greeted with music at the hotel. There is Russian-speaking staff at the hotel. We had the FB package (tea, coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast; a bottle of water was always offered for lunch/dinner, other drinks were for an additional cost). Meat, seafood, various types of cheese, desserts, vegetables, and fruits were incredibly delicious. The mango, papaya, and passion fruit were especially tasty. The cuisine is mainly European, but there were also themed dinners with Mexican, Italian, and Japanese cuisine. In the photo is the Uthuru bar cocktail, Curumba colada. They recommended it as an alternative to Pina colada. Rooms were cleaned twice a day!!! and there was always water. We stayed two nights in a beach villa in the south of the island and the remaining days in a jacuzzi beach villa in the north of the island (18+), and it was magnificent 😇 We particularly liked the northern part. We even felt like there was a difference in the food in the restaurants for the southern and northern parts, although the staff claimed it was the same for everyone. Tables near the room are not assigned, they simply say that you can choose any table in a certain part of the restaurant. Excellent Wi-Fi in the facilities and rooms, and for those who want to be constantly connected, an Ooredo e-sim is needed. The beach is cleaned every day. Lovely little sharks swim along the shore. Turtles swim where the water bungalows are located. The area is treated for mosquitoes. The hotel has its own app. You can view the entertainment program and sign up for excursions. It is very convenient and easy to use. You can also check the weather forecast in the app, which always matches reality. Meeru 💗

Hello! Very beautiful photos!! Please tell me, is it possible to swim in the ocean? Or just walk? And do I need swimming slippers? Thank you)

Good evening. Beads are definitely needed, as there are coral fragments. Well, we swam in them, walked barefoot along the shore. You can swim, the depth varies. It depends on the tides. It is easier to monitor tides through the "Tides Near Me" application.

Cocktails at the bar for every taste) But yes, the prices are quite steep. In the photo menu) On FB, they only offer tea, coffee, and juices, and that's only for breakfast. Everything else comes at a cost. And the fact that they didn't bring the bill is their oversight. 🤷‍♀️

Child is 5, I think steps won't be a problem, the main thing is that the entry into the sea is good.

Then take any, 400 meters further from the beach. Or check on the spot and ask to move, for example.

From 504 to 520 approximately, there is more greenery between the villas, which creates a greater sense of privacy.

Along the beach, the four-hundreds seemed a bit better, but villas with steps! Therefore, with a child, the two-hundreds are better, some of them closer to the beach, but there are different access points; you can find corals in the water, and the beaches themselves are quite sandy.

In winter, there are no mosquitoes, in summer it's possible, depending on the weather, villas, and personal mosquito preferences. Last September, I was seriously bitten in the waterfront area (there is normal vegetation between the villas), while my friend wasn't bothered much, apparently they were more attracted to me. I chatted with some guys from the 200s block at the same time, and the mosquitoes didn't bother them. That's about it, it's better to have insect repellent or buy it locally.

I will also add here that in one of the off-season races, when the regular internet was working fine, the voice Discord wasn't working, was quacking and stuttering, on the SIM card everything was fine, so there is a chance that Zoom, RDP, and other work-related tools may also suffer, despite the rest of the internet working.

There are plenty of activities available - golf, tennis during daylight hours, kayaking, one dolphin excursion for the entire stay, half-priced business lunches from the menu; if you prefer dining a la carte for dinner, it's easier to cover the cost that way. I think it depends on the tour operator, in my opinion, it's not a problem, you could even postpone the refund and put the remainder into the hotel deposit.

if compared to a local guesthouse, then it is definitely not any worse, you will still have to walk to the beach, only it is a bikini beach across the entire island and you don't have to bother with a dress code, just like in a guesthouse, there will be neighbors through the wall, but there are no constructions, garbage on the beach, and the food is significantly better.

We couldn't swim there, went to the sandbar with an adult restaurant. The bottom there is very clean, no seaweed, but it was a bit shallow, you had to go quite far to reach the depth. In my opinion, it's better to have a garden room in Meeru than a guesthouse in the locals or Turkey 😁 because the restaurant, the island itself and the ocean will be just as beautiful as for residents of other categories 😇

if someone settles down on the blue cloth sunbeds - drive them away, with the reception involved on the white plastic sunbeds, it depends on whether the villa number is on it, formally it's shared if there is no number, and formally it's personal if there is a number Last time, someone stole my white ones (but I didn't need them anyway)

Booking, after confirmation, please write to the email in Meeru which rooms you would like. If available, they will settle you there. You can also do it on-site, contact the reception, and they will move you if there is a possibility (I once stayed in three villas in a day there 😂).

200 also different 201-205 - on the western side (!) in depth, few people, very interesting location (from an introvert's point of view) 206-220 (roughly) - direct view of diffusors, I do not know the advantages of this choice and then there are 230-258 which are actively discussed here and most photos and videos are from there and further the choice is not great, 400s were shown here, and there is also a cheaper garden, but with a view of the neighbors and a common wall

250-255 ask, we were in 258 all super, but many come and it turns out there is a small beach with people from other houses in front of you, well, we never laid on a sunbed, so it was not so important for us. After that, people don't walk anymore (it seemed to me), close to all locations. Do you like to swim or lie on a sun lounger like a starfish? Maybe look at 400 more, they are further from the ocean, the ocean is not visible from the house. It is considered quieter there, although everything is relative.

I can't decide which villa to book. We will be staying at the hotel in July. The tour operator recommends beach front, but someone wrote that there is no shade at all and there are algae on their side. Those who are on vacation now, in which villa did you stay? Do you like it?

All that can change (and will change) over time, is the water level at 400/500 villas, and as a result, the grass will be further from the shore, with no change in shade, azure ocean, shade, constantly walking people in front of the villa - ~108-118 and 650+ villas, spotted-azure ocean with grass on the bottom a few meters away, without shade and people (the difference in privacy heaven and earth) - 500 villas.

Do you eat with children? Unfortunately, we have a sad story and I couldn't convince the hotel to accommodate us in the adult zone. Although today I saw a teenager on the overwater villas. The ocean entry is 650+, the sand... 400, not many shaded areas, I would ask for 650+ if I were flying here. We are in the end of 200, we really like the place, everything is close, everything is nearby. True, the entry has coral, but we have slippers 😀

If tomorrow we go in that direction, I'll take a photo. Where it's quiet at 500, where at 650* I think it's a bit noisy, there's a restaurant, cross the road 😀 and you can swim at 650+, where there's a little sandy beach.

Opposite the 400s villas, the sea is full of seaweed. We even moved there. It's better to take rooms 248-259, 259 being the one closest to the bar, so it's better to ask for one in the middle. Are standard garden rooms the ones you are referring to? Personally, I believe it is better to pay extra and choose a beach villa. The rooms are located in the shape of the letter "P" slightly inland, with a view of the neighbors. If this doesn't matter to you and you don't mind not spending much time in the room, then why not. The advantage is that they are located close to the main restaurant, children's pool, bar, and have a pleasant entrance to the water. Take a look at a review online, it will give you a better idea about these rooms.

No, that's incorrect. If we take a trip in the high season, and January is a high season, then there is hardly any wind at sunset and the water there is an unreal color, with a windy sunrise. In any case, that was exactly how my vacation was there.

2024-01-28T14:52:55+03:00

I have been going in spring, summer, and winter for many years, and almost always summer is better (that's how I ended up). In 2022, it was worse, but that is not an indicator, you still cannot predict the weather. My recipe is to stay for a minimum of 10-12 days, and then you will definitely catch good weather. In the Maldives, if bad weather comes, it lasts for 2-3 days, but there can be rain only at night, and during the day the weather is excellent.

Anna
2024-01-28T16:58:39+03:00

During our vacation in January, we had 23 days of rest, with 4 days of continuous rain and an additional 3-4 days of intermittent rain...but the locals said that it was really atypical for January.

The dive is good, coral fragments can be found, but you can do without fins. There is no significant depth, either closer to the seaweed or you have to walk up to your waist deep at least, during low tide it is even shallower.

This was relevant in 2021 when Meeru was closed due to COVID (the entire island for 4 months, and then the north was also partially closed). These Maldivian hamsters multiplied significantly, and the staff didn't really care. There were a lot of them, especially in the north. In September 2023, I specifically looked for them, a couple of times at night. I briefly saw them in the forest in the north, they ran away quickly, so they need to be tracked.

The territory is being cultivated. We saw for ourselves how they do it once. That's why there is no one there. We, on the other hand, once decided to venture into the dense vegetation, and it was so humid there. And that's exactly where the mosquitoes were, and we had to run away from there. 🤣

Can I add my two cents? 😅 Mosquitoes always bother me everywhere, despite the treatment of the island, I am constantly bitten. Mosquitoes bite unnoticed, they hardly buzz. Mosquito sprays are sold on the island, our sprays don't help, but fumigators do help, I brought my own. Plus, there are repellent canisters in the rooms for self-treatment of the room against insects.

The 6xx villas are very controversial, far from the water (and the beach is also blurred), except for the last 5-10 villas, but they, in turn, are close to the bar and dining area, and if there is music in the bar in the evening (not every day), it will be noisy until 11 PM. I cannot comment on the 1xx villas as I did not inquire about them, as they are attached to the children's dining area.
